Who watches the watchers of state’s campaign finance?

If anyone in state government were going to question, examine or investigate whether politicians are properly using and reporting campaign money or reimbursements, it would be the attorney general, state auditor and secretary of state.

But an examination of their campaign finance reports — particularly the attorney general and auditor — raises some of the same questions as for those they might regulate or investigate. No one appears to be riding herd on Mississippi campaign finances.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering and Attorney General Jim Hood each spend tens of thousands of dollars each year — even in off-election years — on campaign credit cards without explanation of what the spending was for.

Older adults can get refresher on road rules – Dothan Eagle: Local

A lot has changed since Gwen Davidson started driving. As a result, Davidson decided it would be a good idea to take driving courses for seniors offered by Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

“When we started driving, it was all two lanes,” she said. “Now it’s all four and six lanes.”

Davidson’s decision was a smart one. According to the Centers for Disease Control, there are more than 36 million licensed drivers ages 65 and older in the U.S. As our population ages, the number of older adults on the roads will increase. Older adults are at elevated risk of being injured or killed in car accidents. In 2012, more than 5,560 older adults were killed and 214,000 were injured.

We agreed that I would move into his house because he already had one and that we would split everything down the middle which sounded fair. The problem came to a head when during a conversation that turned into a fight that it came up that I do not contribute to my employers 401K or have any savings.
